A word on the context of this video…it’s spring of 2003 – year two of the Tribeca Film Festival – just blocks away from ground zero and my studio at the time. The bombs have just recently began to rain on Baghdad in the Bush regime’s ill-fated oil war (“shock-ing and awe-ful”) Five years later, of course, the occupation continues despite widespread knowledge the entire premise of the war was fabricated.
That’s what Mike’s referring to when he says, “this is really kickin the shiz outta me…”
…and that’s why i always insist the quest for happiness in the face of reality is the ultimate rebellion.
